Niacinamide + Adenosine hydrogel eye patches — with bakuchiol
Dark circles, fine lines, and overnight dehydration around the eye call for proven actives. Foodaholic's hydrogel eye patches deliver niacinamide (brightening), adenosine (a smoothing active commonly used in Korean skincare), panthenol (barrier repair), and sodium hyaluronate (hydration) in a soaking-wet gel format that maintains contact with skin throughout wear. Bakuchiol is also included in the formula. You apply them, leave them for 20 minutes, peel off.
Why hydrogel over a sheet mask
Hydrogel is a cross-linked polymer network — essentially a water-saturated solid. Unlike a thin fabric sheet that dries out in minutes, hydrogel maintains saturation and keeps active ingredients migrating into skin throughout the wear time. The thick, gel-like texture also acts as an occlusive: it creates a seal over the under-eye area that stops evaporation and pushes moisture into the deeper skin layers where it counts. Each patch stays cool and conforms to the curve of the under-eye without slipping — no repositioning mid-session.

Frequently asked questions
What does bakuchiol do in this formula?
Bakuchiol is a plant-derived compound that activates similar retinoid receptors to retinol at a gentler pH. In this product, bakuchiol is present at trace concentration (9.27ppm, 21st of 23 ingredients). The primary actives at higher concentrations are niacinamide (brightening), adenosine (smoothing), and panthenol (barrier repair). A 2019 British Journal of Dermatology study demonstrated bakuchiol efficacy at much higher concentrations — those results should not be extrapolated to the trace level here.
Can I use these with my current retinol or vitamin C serum?
Yes — bakuchiol is compatible with other actives, unlike retinol which conflicts with acidic pH products. If you already use retinol, these patches give you an extra bakuchiol layer without doubling your retinol load. If you use vitamin C in the morning, you can safely use these patches the same evening.
Are these safe during pregnancy?
Bakuchiol is generally considered a pregnancy-safer alternative to retinol — standard retinol is typically avoided in pregnancy due to systemic absorption concerns. However, we recommend confirming with your obstetrician before introducing any new skin care product during pregnancy, as individual circumstances vary.
Can I sleep in them?
Yes. The hydrogel doesn't dry out, so overnight wear is fine and preferred by many users — the longer contact time increases ingredient penetration. Lay on your back if possible to prevent the patches from sliding. In the morning, remove, pat in any residual gel, and proceed with your normal morning routine.
